Oh Martin Odegaard, with all the promise of a young, entitled Rocky Maivia circa 1996. You were the hottest young property in the game but now your fans are tiring of you and they want to see more than a series of hype videos and clean cut smiles.

The Norwegian wonderkid arrived at Real Madrid two seasons ago and was widely tipped to be the next big prodigy in world football. At 15 years of age he'd been courted by every major club in Europe, taking in visits to Ajax and Bayern Munich before finally settling on the Bernabeu. However, with unfair expectations placed upon his teenage shoulders, opportunities in the 'Los Blancos' first team have been unsurprisingly hard to come by and now it looks as though Norway's biggest baby faced export since Ole Gunar Solskjaer is set for a season in Ligue Un,with Rennes.

L'Equipe Norwegian newspaper VG have reported that the move to France is on the table for Odegaard, who has spent most of his time in the Spanish capital with the European champions' Castilla side. The move would offer Odegaard the chance to evolve into the blue chip player he has promised to become, in much the same way Rocky Maivia's switch to the Nation of Domination gave the world The Rock, and that ended up working out pretty bloody well for everyone.

Will the Rennes switch be the best move for Odegaard? Will he return to Madrid as a new People's Champion? Odegaard is due to give his decision, tomorrow.
