Darijo Srna has posted a touching tribute to Croatian fans following their sides exit from the Euro's.

Portugal narrowly pipped Croatia to a the quarter-finals with a last gasp goal from Ricardo Quaresma, which will most likely spell the end to his Croatia career.

Prior to the Euro's, the skipper suggested he is set to call time on his international career citing travel and lack of family time as the main issues. The 33-year-old made his debut back in 2002 where he amassed an incredible 134 caps after graduating from the under-15's while scoring an impressive 22 goals from full-back.

He took to Instagram to post this message, check out below for translation:

Dear Croatian fans,

Indescribable thanks to all this overwhelming love without which we would have the strength to go through the most difficult period of my life.

Never you do not forget.

Thank you to each individual to every message of support, every shout, every applause, every sigh ... If only measured the fans, they would be champions of the world!

No one does not like the way you like us and like we love you! And forgive us for all that sadness and tears at the end, believe me, we wanted it as much as you! Croatia - forever!

Srna was faced with devastating news after hearing his father had tragically passed away during the tournament. He has been an consistent performer for 'The Blazers' as they'll no doubt miss the influential defender.
