West Ham loanee Jesse Lingard showed exactly why Manchester United fans shouldn't write him off with his superb display against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old England international signed for the Hammers in the January window on a loan deal as he struggled for regular playing time at Old Trafford.

And West Ham boss David Moyes, who worked with the player at United, started Lingard in his Hammers debut for the Premier League clash at Villa Park.

Lingard didn't pass up the opportunity either as he scored a second-half brace in his first Premier League start in 13 months.

The West Ham player also impressed fans with how confident he was on the pitch as he schooled Villa star Jack Grealish during the 3-1 win.

Now, two fans have made compilations to highlight Lingard's performance and show exactly what he is capable of when he is playing at his best.

"So happy for him, especially after what he's been through!" one fan said.

While another added: "He looked so happy scoring that goal, I wish him all the best at West Ham."

Someone else posted: "He's always a class player. People have been harsh on him."

A fourth simply wrote: "Really happy for him!"

Speaking after the match, Moyes was "thrilled" with Lingard's West Ham debut and believes that the player has the chance to be recalled by England boss Gareth Southgate.

"Jesse is still getting used to us and us to him," he said.

"We are thrilled because he made a difference. If he keeps on like that, it won't be long until he is back in the England squad. He made the team better tonight.

"I felt we were short in areas where we make chances. It is proved tonight that we needed him."

West Ham will now travel away to Fulham on 6th February for their next Premier League clash.

The Hammers will then face United on 9th February at Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
