Let's get this straight. Lionel Messi is not only the best dribbler in the world but he's the best goalscorer. He's also the best passer in the world. And the best player on the planet right now. Please don't @ me.

The five-time Balon d'Or winner gave the world another truly magical performance at Wembley, dropping deep to help out his midfield while causing Spurs' defence all sorts of headaches with his slippery runs and silky skills.

Messi was simply unstoppable, tonight.

He scored in the 56th minute with a nice finish, as well as a goal in the last minute but was unlucky not to score a hat-trick after hitting the post twice in quick succession.

Then again, we are almost guaranteed to see a Messi masterclass against an English side.

The man has scored more goals and provided more assists against English clubs in the Champions League than against sides from any other nation.

Gary Lineker summed up Messi on Twitter during the game, saying: "Does anyone really genuinely think there has ever been a better footballer than Lionel Messi? I mean seriously?"

We can't argue with you there, Gary.

Here's how the rest of Twitter reacted to his magnificent performance.

Take a bow, Lionel Messi.
