He's only gone and done it. Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored more international goals than any other European player in the history of football, overtaking Ferenc Puskás' 62-year-old record of 85 goals.

It took the Portugal captain just four minutes to enter the history books.

The Real Madrid forward managed to wrong foot the Morocco defender, getting on the end of a drilled cross in typical Ronaldo fashion to give his side the lead.

Ronaldo, complete with new goatee, wheeled away in celebration as the crowd went wild.

What a moment for the five time Balon d'Or winner, who will surely be a favourite to snap up the Golden Boot award at this summer's tournament in Russia.

His goal against Morocco means that the 33-year-old has scored four goals from five shots at the 2018 World Cup, a truly remarkable ratio considering this is the biggest stage in world football.

But then again, this is Cristiano Ronaldo we're talking about. He really is the man for the big occasion.

Do you think he can lead Portugal to World Cup glory?

Surely that would cement his place as the greatest of all time?
