A compilation of Donny van de Beek's performances during the 2018/19 Champions League campaign proves he could be an important figure in Manchester United's season if they decide to give him more first-team action.
The 24-year-old midfielder has made just three appearances for United this season; a 15-minute cameo against Newcastle in the Premier League, a full 90 minutes against West Ham in the Carabao Cup and 45 minutes against Young Boys.
It has been a frustrating time for Van de Beek since arriving in a £35 million deal from Ajax last summer and on Wednesday night, his spell at Old Trafford was summed up when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer snubbed him in favour of Fred and Jesse Lingard.
For the majority of his time in Manchester, the Dutch international has been limited to substitute appearances by Solskjaer; a frustrating fact considering how important he was at former club Ajax, especially during their famous 2018/19 campaign in Europe's elite competition.
The midfielder played a huge role throughout, helping Erik ten Hag's side reach the Champions League semi-final stage after notable wins against Real Madrid and Juventus, before being knocked out by a last-gasp winner from Lucas Moura.

As you can see in the clip above, Van de Beek's intelligent link-up play caused the opposition some serious problems. He also showcased prowess in front of goal, netting against Juventus in the second leg quarter-final and Spurs in the semi-final.
His contribution highlights what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United are missing. In fact, plenty of fans on social media have urged the Norwegian to give the midfielder more chances in the coming weeks. Do you agree?
Do you think Solskjaer should give Van de Beek more game time?
