Ouch.

Patrice Evra didn't exactly receive the warmest of welcomes on his return to Anfield this weekend.

Back in 2011, the former Manchester United defender was racially abused by Luis Suarez during a Liverpool-Manchester United game, with the Uruguayan handed an eight-game ban by The FA after being found guilty.

The next time the two met, in the reverse fixture, Suarez ignored Evra's offer of a handshake prior to the game, which angered the Frenchman and when the final whistle blew after United's 2-1 victory, Evra celebrated wildly in front of the former Ajax striker.

Six years on from that infamous moment, Liverpool fans booed the French defender for large spells of the game. In fact, songs about Luis Suarez rang around Anfield throughout.

According to The Daily Mail, the chant "one lying b******," was heard from the stands.

Anyway, Evra and his West Ham side conceded four goals and the former Marseille left-back revealed a gruesome cut on his leg after the game. It just wasn't his day.

"Not a good result but I am very happy to be back in the @premierleague." Evra said via his official Twitter account. "I have missed this game and these tackles!"

Evra's treatment was a huge talking point on social media yesterday, with plenty giving their opinion on the matter:
