Patrice Evra Posts Graphic Picture Of Injury Suffered Against Liverpool This Weekend
Patrice Evra didn't exactly receive the warmest of welcomes on his return to Anfield this weekend.
Back in 2011, the former Manchester United defender was racially abused by Luis Suarez during a Liverpool-Manchester United game, with the Uruguayan handed an eight-game ban by The FA after being found guilty.
The next time the two met, in the reverse fixture, Suarez ignored Evra's offer of a handshake prior to the game, which angered the Frenchman and when the final whistle blew after United's 2-1 victory, Evra celebrated wildly in front of the former Ajax striker.
According to The Daily Mail, the chant "one lying b******," was heard from the stands.
Trying to get my head around the FACT that @Evra was being booed by some Liverpool fans? When he was the one racially abused by Suarez. He was found guilty and banned for this. What is it that Evra did wrong? Please someone explain? Because I'm baffled- Lianne Sanderson (@liannesanderson) February 25, 2018
Anyway, Evra and his West Ham side conceded four goals and the former Marseille left-back revealed a gruesome cut on his leg after the game. It just wasn't his day.
"Not a good result but I am very happy to be back in the @premierleague." Evra said via his official Twitter account. "I have missed this game and these tackles!"
Evra's treatment was a huge talking point on social media yesterday, with plenty giving their opinion on the matter:
Liverpool fans booing Evra and chanting Luis Suarez, the player who racially abused him, at him.- Uber West Ham (@UberWestHam) February 24, 2018
The same fans that slam someone for buying a newspaper because it offends them. Strange club.
So many weirdos on here. Haven't even mentioned the Suarez - Evra situation and people are on it straight away! Wake up people! When a ex player from Man U comes to Anfield you always want the player to have a bad afternoon! Just normal people, so stop pretending you know- John Arne Riise (@JARiiseOfficial) February 24, 2018
Liverpool fans are quite mongy aren't they, Suarez literally got punished for racially abusing Evra. There's evidence. Why would you boo the victim- Benj (@Beniesta_) February 24, 2018
Ashamed of nothing, offended by everything.
Liverpool fans relentlessly booing Patrice Evra inside the first 30 minutes - the victim of racist abuse, and now chanting Luis Suarez's name, directed towards at Evra. You stay classy, Liverpool FC.- United Xtra (@utdxtra) February 24, 2018
Liverpool fans singing their Luis Suarez song to Patrice Evra on his debut for West Ham at Anfield. Just a reminder that Suarez was charged for racially abusing Evra. Says everything really.- The Man Utd Way (@TheManUtdWay) February 24, 2018
