Luis Suarez’s reaction to Darwin Nunez scoring the winner against Nottingham Forest will delight Liverpool fans.

On Saturday, Jurgen Klopp’s men had the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points with a win against Forest at the City Ground.

It looked like the match was going to end 0-0 as the clock ticked towards the ninth minute of stoppage time.

However, upstepped Nunez to head home a dramatic winner to seal all three points for his team.

As a result, Liverpool are now four points ahead of Manchester City ahead of the Manchester derby.

On the back of Inter Miami’s 5-0 win over Orlando City in the MLS, ex-Liverpool striker Suarez was asked about Nunez’s goal. You can watch the footage below.

Suarez said: “Yes I saw (the goal). I am so happy for Liverpool and I am so happy for Darwin.

“He is one of the best strikers in the world today.”

Fellow Uruguayan Suarez played for Liverpool between 2011 and 2014, making 133 appearances across all competitions and scoring 82 goals.

During his time at Anfield, Suarez developed into one of the finest players in the world, eventually moving to La Liga giants Barcelona after the 2014 World Cup.

Since then, he has played for the likes of Atletico Madrid, Nacional and Gremio.

In December 2023, Suarez was officially announced as an Inter Miami player, reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Speaking after Liverpool’s dramatic win over Forest, Reds boss Klopp said: “It was, it is so important the goal which gives you three points. It's always super-decisive and, especially for him, super-deserved. People singing that song more often, it's the best way to calm it immediately down, but they can sing it if Darwin responds like he did today.

“Before that he had really good moments. I think it was him after a set-piece, if I'm right, [where it was a] sensational save of the goalie. It was his chance as well. He was really immediately in the game, in a difficult game for us obviously.”

Liverpool will be back in action on Thursday night when they take on Sparta Prague in the Europa League ahead of a mouth-watering clash against City next Sunday.
