Darwin Nunez had cold response to hearing Nottingham Forest fans' X-rated chant towards him

A huge goal for Nunez and Liverpool.

Liverpool star Darwin Nunez had the perfect response to hearing Nottingham Forest fans chant at him at the City Ground.

The Reds won 1-0 in Nottingham to record what could be a crucial three points in the race for the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp's side did have a number of players available to start the clash after missing Wednesday's FA Cup fifth round win over Southampton, with Alexis Mac Allister, Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz all coming back into the XI.

Liverpool struggled to find the target against Forest, with just two of their 22 shots testing new Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.

Their winner came courtesy of Nunez, who had missed the last three games through injury.

But the Uruguayan made the ultimate impact off the bench at the City Ground, scoring a dramatic 99th-minute winner to secure all three points for Klopp's side.

After he came on to the pitch, Forest fans began chanting: "You're just a shit Andy Carroll."

Following his goal in front of the away end, Liverpool supporters began serenading the Uruguayan striker with the same chant - and continued it well beyond full time alongside a mixture of the more traditional chants.

Nunez scored his 10th goal of what has been an impressive Premier League campaign for the 24-year-old, who also has seven assists to his name.

The Reds are now four points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand and face Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal are a point further back in third, with their game in hand coming against Sheffield United on Monday evening.

For Forest, whose furious chairman Evangelos Marinakis went on to the pitch at full-time, they sit in 17th place - just four points above 18th-placed Luton, who have two games in hand on Nuno Espirito Santo's side.
