The Reason Why Iranian TV Channel Censored AS Roma Badge During Champions League Coverage

They blurred the badge throughout the game...

An Iranian TV channel has taken the bizarre step to blur the AS Roma badge during their Champions League coverage, in a move which will leave fans of the Serie A giants scratching their heads in confusion.

Roma are staring down the barrel of elimination from Europe's premier club competition, following a 4-1 defeat to Barcelona at the Camp Nou last night.

And while you'd expect the Giallorossi supporters to be up in arms at such a miserable scoreline after the first leg, the majority aimed their anger elsewhere...at Iran TV's third channel.

BBC News reports that eagle-eyed viewers of the programme quickly noticed the the producers had decided to censor out "a female wolf's teats" on the club badge.

The club's logo of course pays homage to the ancient myth of Rome's twin founders Romulus and Remus being suckled by the Capitoline Wolf... obviously.

Is this an example of political correctness in overdrive?

Surely a club as big as AS Roma, who's badge and identity is regularly broadcast around the world, should be exempt from this?
