Marco Asensio has scored with an absolute rocket for Real Madrid in their Champions League clash against Inter Milan.

The Spaniard cut inside on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed strike, which clipped in off the post to double Los Blancos' advantage on the night.

It was the second special long-range effort on the night from Carlo Ancelotti's side, after Toni Kroos' first-half opener.

The result ensured Real got the result they needed to finish top of Group D, meaning they will be seeded in the last-16 draw.

Inter headed into the contest needing a win to leapfrog the 13-time winners of the competition, but this defeat means Simone Inzaghi's side finish second.

Meanwhile, the other result in the group saw Shakhtar Donetsk and Sheriff Tiraspol share the spoils with a 1-1 draw.

The Moldovan champions now drop down into the Europa League with a third-place finish, following a memorable first-ever Champions League campaign that included an incredible 2-1 win away at Real Madrid.

As for Shakhtar, their European adventure comes to an end after finishing bottom of the group with only two points from six games.
