Despite claiming that the Manchester United job would be the last of his career before retirement, it looks as if Louis Van Gaal is heading back into management, after the President of the Belgian FA said he would consider the Dutchman to be the next national team boss.
Van Gaal ended his United tenure by winning the FA Cup, but his two year reign at Old Trafford will be regarded as a disappointment after failing to mount a serious Premier League title challenge and missing out on a top four finish in his final campaign. The Belgium job could be the former Barcelona and Bayern manager's chance at redemption.
The Belgian FA parted company with Marc Wilmots following their disappointing Euro 2016 campaign, where they were eliminated by Wales at the quarter-final stage.
However, Van Gaal has to apply for the role first as Francois De Keersemacker, the president of the Belgian FA, told reporters on Friday: "Van Gaal might be a potential candidate. We will see if he puts himself forward as a candidate. If he does then we will evaluate his candidacy."

Van Gaal's last stint as an international boss was a successful run with the Netherlands national team, who he led to a third place finish at the 2014 World Cup, despite his team featuring several young, relatively inexperienced players.
