Marco Reus' career may have been substantially derailed by injury over the last few years, but the Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been at his sublime best against former club Mönchengladbach today, scoring a wonder goal to hand BVB the lead.
Reus has featured only twice this season before today, following a partial cruciate ligament tear suffered during last season's DFB Pokal cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
And the 28-year-old got off the mark for the season in style, nonchalantly cracking home a wonderful effort off the crossbar from the far corner of the penalty area.

And considering the state of the Gladbach pitch, Reus' effort was even more impressive.
Reus spent three seasons with Gladbach between 2009-2012, making 97 Bundesliga appearances and scoring 36 goals, before moving to Dortmund, where he has since scored 57 goals in 127 games following his heroics, today.

Given that Reus made only 24 appearances in all competitions, last season and has missed out the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 due to injury, it's great to see the Germany international back playing and doing what he does best. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of these efforts between now and the end of the season so Reus can finally make it to a major international tournament at the third time of asking.
