Ivan Perisic Has Also Represented Croatia At Volleyball And Everyone Is Making The Same Joke

Croatia midfielder Ivan Perisic conceded a controversial penalty after handling in the area against France this afternoon, and plenty on social media remembered his days playing professional Volleyball.

He was beaten in straight-sets by a Brazilian duo who took part in the Olympics, but if he'd progressed to the next round, he could've missed the start of pre-season at Inter last season.

Apparently, the Inter hierarchy were furious that he risked injury whilst playing another sport - but paying thousands of pounds for a game of volleyball? Seems a bit over the top to us.

12 months later, many picked up on the fact he played professional volleyball last year and made the same joke.

Croatia currently trail 2-1 after Antoine Griezmann converted the penalty, but Perisic actually equalised for his team with a superb strike just before the half hour mark.

Can they cause one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history?
