Fiorentina Captain Davide Astori Tragically Passes Away, Aged 31

Fiorentina captain Davide Astori has tragically passed away, aged 31.

He was found dead in his hotel room where he was with Fiorentina ahead of the Serie A game against Udinese.

Horrific news.

The Italian club released the following statement: "Fiorentina are profoundly shaken and forced to announce that their captain Davide Astori has died

"For this terrible and delicate situation, and above all out of respect for his family, we appeal to the sensitivity of the media."

Today's league game versus Udinese has been cancelled.

The midfielder was a stalwart in Italy, playing for the likes of Cagliari, AS Roma and Fiorentina.

He's also been capped 14 times by the Italian national team, scoring one goal.

Rest in peace, Davide.
