Cristiano Ronaldo's challenge on Ryan Fraser was one of the more controversial incidents in the match between Newcastle and Manchester United.

CR7 flew into a challenge with Fraser which resulted in only a yellow card being dished out by referee Craig Pawson.

It drew inevitable comparisons with Andy Robertson and his tackle on Emerson Royal, which saw Paul Tierney brandish a red card.

It sparked an interesting debate on Twitter and highlighted the damning lack of consistency in the officiating across the Premier League this season.

Others claimed that Ronaldo's status as a superstar worked to his advantage, with Harry Kane also arguably lucky not to see red after his own challenge, ironically on Robertson.

As for the match itself, Allan Saint-Maximin put Newcastle in front with a superb goal in the seventh minute, while Edinson Cavani levelled the scores with a typical poacher-like finish from inside the box.

The draw leaves Eddie Howe's men 19th with 11 points at the halfway stage of the season, with just one win so far this season.

Meanwhile, Man United remain seventh and seven points adrift of Arsenal in fourth, albeit with two games in hand.
