Dejan Lovren has now reached the Champions League and World Cup final just a couple of months apart but he's getting a bit carried away with himself.

The former Southampton man has had a lot of unnecessary flak in recent times, including a whole lot of abuse on social media after he had an absolute stinker in a 4-1 defeat to Spurs at Wembley.

And after playing a key role in Croatia's 2-1 semi-final win over England, the Liverpool centre-back gave a passionate post-match interview and fired back at his critics.

Not only that though, he believes he now deserves to be viewed as one of the best defenders in world football.

"From my point of view I had people saying I had a difficult season but I don't agree with that", he told beIN Sports.

"I took Liverpool to the final of the Champions League and now with my national team we are in the final.

'I think people should recognise that I am also one of the best defenders in the world and not just talk nonsense."

But while his performances have been much-improved of late, and he was impressive last night, not many were agreeing with his assessment:

ILovren also provided an opinion that a lot more people can get onboard with, saying that teammate Luka Modric deserves to win the Ballon d'Or if Croatia beat France on Sunday.
