Carlos Tevez Debating Retirement At The End Of The Year

The Argentina striker is growing frustrated

Boca Juniors striker Carlos Tevez is debating retiring from football at the end of the year.

Tevez, who had great success in the Premier League with spells at West Ham and both Manchester clubs, has criticised some aspects of the game in his native Argentina and says the media are the reason for his recent three-match ban.

Speaking to Fox Sports, he said:

"The penalty was given to me by journalists and not the committee. They pushed to give me three matches.

"If we draw, Boca are in crisis - River Plate not so much. They tie and play well, everything is nice. I enjoy football but not everything that surrounds it.

One of Tevez's major gripes is the scheduling of games in Argentina, which is done on an incredibly short-term basis.

"In Europe you know what date you will play each team for the first six months. Here, you find out on Monday if you play on Friday. There is a possibility I could quit at the end of the year. I'm thinking about it."

The 32-year old would surely still be able to play at the top-level for a few more years, but it seems as though he is very much considering an early retirement from the beautiful game.
