Arsenal legend Liam Brady has launched an astonishing rant on Mesut Ozil as he backed Mikel Arteta's decision to freeze out the Gunners playmaker.

Ozil, 32, started the first 10 Premier League matches under Arteta's reign at the Gunners, but he has since been left in the wilderness after 'Project Restart.'

And the Arsenal outcast has also been omitted from Arsenal's domestic campaign this season and their campaign in Europe.

Arteta has suggested that Ozil's absence from his squad has been down to purely football reasons only.

However, Brady has made it clear that he supports the Arsenal boss over his position on Ozil and insisted that the Gunners should have cut ties with the former Real Madrid star much earlier.

The 64-year-old ex-Gunners star told ‎Keys & Gray The Podcast: "I don't blame Arteta over Ozil.

"He gave Ozil plenty of chances and he performed for a couple of months. Ozil just reverted back to type.

"He's not a good guy in the dressing room, he's not a good guy on the pitch. I've no problem with Mikel bombing him.

"[Ivan] Gazidis should have let him go on a free three years ago. We should have spent what we are paying him over three years -- around £50million -- on a good young player instead of having him around the place."

Good Morning Britain co-presenter Piers Morgan, who hasn't been shy to voice his thoughts on Ozil, once again took to Twitter to take a swipe at the German World Cup winner.

Responding to one fan, Gunners supporter Morgan tweeted: "Mesut Ozil isn't fit to lick Liam Brady's boots when it comes to being an Arsenal legend. Educate yourself, you clown."

Ozil, who is Arsenal's top earner on a £350,000-a-week deal, is out of contract next summer and has currently been linked with the likes of Juventus and Fenerbahce.
