Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford couldn't help but crack a smile when he was greeted by a fan wearing an inflatable T-Rex costume at St James' Park.

Newcastle secured all three points against Frank Lampard's side on Tuesday night - a win that could prove hugely important in their fight to secure Premier League status.

The Magpies have moved above struggling Norwich and into 17th place after goals from Mason Holgate [OG], Ryan Fraser and a wonderful free-kick from Kieran Trippier sealed a deserved victory.

Kieran Trippier, that's brilliant! 🎯

St James' Park was understandably rocking throughout the clash and to add to the occasion, former Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford conceded three times.

The 27-year-old, who spent 15 years with the Mackems between 2002 and 2017, was welcomed to St James' with a chorus of noise and well, one fan dressed as a dinosaur.

Footage of the supporter behind Pickford's goal soon emerged online.

This isn't the first time Pickford has been taunted by Newcastle fans. Back in 2020, former full-back Olivier Bernard trolled shot-stopper Pickford on social media after he failed to keep out Florian Lejeune's effort.

He posted a picture of a T-Rex wearing goalkeeper gloves behind a line of toilet paper with the caption: "It's 2-2 at Everton tonight. Great result and a big thank you to Jordan Pickford."

Here is that post.

Two years earlier, during their clash against Everton, hundreds of Newcastle fans chanted "he’s only got little arms" towards the England international.

Eddie Howe, meanwhile, called for calm after his side picked up consecutive wins for the first time this season.

"Back-to-back wins change the mood, change the feeling,' he said. "What we have to do at this moment, though, is stay very calm and very focused.

"It's two wins, nothing has been achieved. We're very happy with what we've delivered in those two games, but now we have to focus on the next one."
