'He's a baller' - Chelsea fans react to Mykhailo Mudryk compilation after Blues seal £85 million deal

The Ukrainian winger joins Chelsea on an eight-and-a-half-year deal from Shakhtar Donetsk.

A compilation of Mykhailo Mudryk's best moments has been exciting Chelsea fans on social media after the Ukrainian winger's deal to join the Blues was confirmed on Sunday afternoon (15 January).

Chelsea gazumped Arsenal's previous offer for the player after it seemed certain that the Shakhtar man was headed for North London.

Mudryk is just the latest arrival at Stamford Bridge, with new owner Todd Boehly having spent around £400 million on new players since buying the club last year.

With the reported £85 million deal for the 22-year-old coming almost out of the blue (pardon the pun) earlier this week, you'd forgive Chelsea fans for not being overly familiar with his body of work.

Thankfully, a Twitter user by the name of @ConnCFC had fans covered with an impressive showreel of Mudryk's best moments for Shakhtar and Ukraine.

You can watch his compilation below.

Suffice to say, plenty of Chelsea supporters were impressed, making their feelings known in replies to the original Tweet.

One fan wrote: 'he's a baller', while another added: 'looks class'.

However, not everyone was equally as impressed. Indeed, some fans were keen to point out how little we can glean from such comps, given his relative lack of experience at the highest level.

An unconvinced Twitter user commented: "Todd [Boehly] should be arrested for paying 100m for this guy."

This sentiment was echoed by another user, who simply labelled the winger as 'mid'.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of reactions to the compilation were positive. A key observation by made by several fans was how quick Mudryk looked, and how that could be deployed effectively within Chelsea's system.

One user wrote: "Okay now I am excited for this signing, we haven't had a winger with this kind of raw pace for so long."

A second person stated: "One thing is sure, except [Kyle] Walker no one is catching him."

A similar comment read: "Just imagine him, [Christopher] Nkunku and [Joao] Felix running at you on a counter lmao.!!"

While Mudryk wasn't cleared in time to be involved in Chelsea's 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, he is expected to be thrusted straight into Graham Potter's plans due to the club's ongoing injury crisis.

It will represent a notable step up in quality for the Ukrainian international, who has played 44 times in all competitions for Shakhtar.

He does have some elite-level experience of playing in the Champions League, having shone for the Eastern European outfit with three goals in this year's Group Stage format.

Do you think Mudryk will start against Liverpool next Saturday?
