"It's understood..." - Sky Sports reporter drops interesting Caicedo update as Liverpool plot move

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth gave an update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth gave an update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The Reds are in the market for a new midfielder, with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of contract in the summer, and Arthur Melo’s loan expiring at the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with England star Jude Bellingham, though face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City for the 19-year-old’s signature.

The World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament, Enzo Fernandez, is also believed to be a target, though the Argentinian has been tipped to join Liverpool’s Premier League rivals, Chelsea.

Furthermore, Brighton midfielder Caicedo is another player that has reportedly been targeted. Indeed, the 21-year-old has made changes to his representation that suggest he may be angling for a move.

Caicedo to Liverpool?

Sky Sports transfer guru Sheth noted that Liverpool retained an interest in Caicedo, though would face competition for his signature from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Sheth claimed that the midfielder is poised to hire new agents, likely to help with any future move.

The reporter tweeted: “Liverpool & Chelsea remain interested in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

“Interesting development - it's understood he will join a new agency this month, thought to be Futbol Division. [It is the] same one that looks after his Ecuador team-mate Piero Hincapie.”

Brighton signed Caicedo for just £5million back in February 2021 and the Ecuador international has since been the lynchpin of the south-coast club’s midfield.

The player featured heavily at the World Cup, while his stellar displays for club and country have seen his value rise significantly.

Indeed, unconfirmed reports out of Ecuador claimed Liverpool had seen a £62million bid for the midfielder knocked back in late December.
