Crystal Palace To Face Fight To Keep Marc Guéhi From Premier League Rivals

Crystal Palace To Face Fight To Keep Marc Guéhi From Premier League Rivals

After an impressive season with the Eagles, Spurs have their eyes on the young centre-back to bolster their defence.

The unveiling of Marc Guéhi as one of Crystal Palace’s marquee signings in last summer’s transfer window was met with great positivity from Palace fans. Almost one year later, the fans positivity and optimism towards the Guéhi signing has been proven to be well-placed.

The 21 year-old Cobham graduate moved to the Eagles for a fee of £18m, with him going on to keep 10 clean sheets from 36 appearances and guide the South London side to a comfortable 12th place finish and an FA Cup Semi-Final, whilst becoming a firm fan-favourite in the process. Southgate was one of the many impressed with his performances, with the England manager calling up Guéhi to his first senior England squad in March 2022.

His consistently imposing performances throughout the 2021/22 campaign has attracted other clubs, with the Daily Mail reporting that Tottenham have registered an interest in signing the youngster.

Guéhi, who kept 6 clean sheets from Palace’s final 6 home games, is an attractive prospect for any premier league side. However, Spurs, who have played with bit-part centre-back pairings throughout the whole season are perhaps the best suitors.

Conte, who opts for a five at the back, is in desperate need of a third centre-back to pair with Cristian Romero and Eric Dier. Although the North London club managed to keep the 4th most clean sheets this season with 16, they will be looking to improve on this if they have any real aspirations of making history. With his resolute yet composed defending reminiscent of a young Ledley King, perhaps Guéhi will be the man to get them there, and break the trophy drought that has plagued Tottenham for too long, .
