Fresh details of Man Utd's deal for Weghorst emerge including potential €10m transfer fee

Fresh details have emerged over Man Utd's reported agreement to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley.

Fresh details have emerged regarding Wout Weghorst's impending loan move to Manchester United from Burnley.

The 30-year-old Netherlands striker was first linked with United as a potential January target last week, although the deal was likely to be complicated to complete due to the fact he is currently on loan at Besiktas, with no break clause.

As a result, the Turkish club demanded compensation in return for allowing their centre forward to return to England.

In addition, they also requested that they have the opportunity to source a replacement. They have been in talks with Vincent Aboubakar over a move, but the Manchester Evening News claimed that the deal was being held up to the free agent striker requesting the same wage he was on at previous club Al Nassr.

United have now agreed a deal with Besiktas, however, as per multiple reports, with Weghorst potentially available for Saturday's Manchester derby if the move can be finalised in time.

Weghorst set for United

The Athletic have reported that United have agreed to pay £2.5 million in compensation to Besiktas, in return for the Turkish giants terminating their current loan agreement.

Furthermore, they say that this payment will not involve Weghorst's parent club, Burnley, who are currently top of the Championship under Vincent Kompany.

As a result of the compensation paid, the Turkish club will now not have the guaranteed option to purchase the Dutch international for £10 million at the end of the season, although could still negotiate such a fee with Burnley if Weghorst does not stay at Old Trafford beyond the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

The 30-year-old only netted on two occasions in the Premier League after a £12 million move to the Clarets last January, before being moved on upon the club's relegation to the Championship.

United will hope for a more substantial return than that, and will want Weghorst to hit the ground running quickly at Old Trafford.
