Manchester United line up stunning £150m replacement for Ronaldo - it's a major blow for Liverpool

Manchester United line up stunning £150m replacement for Ronaldo - it's a major blow for Liverpool

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing PSG star Kylian Mbappe.

Man Utd have been linked with launching a bid for PSG star Kylian Mbappe as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo looks set to leave Old Trafford in the near future following bombshell claims made in an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

In an interview filmed for the 'Piers Uncensored' show, quoted by The Sun, Ronaldo took aim at the Glazers, said he had doesn't 'have respect' for United boss Erik ten Hag, and slammed club legends Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

There were also comments about his perceived lack of improvements in club facilities, and he also questioned the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as manager last season.

According to ESPN, Ten Hag has already told United chiefs that Ronaldo should not play for the club again, as per sources.

His future was already in serious doubt prior to the interview, with the two-year contract he signed in the summer of 2021 soon expiring.

But the interview appears set to accelerate his departure - and United are already on the lookout for replacements.

United keen on Mbappe

The first name to emerge from the ever-rolling Man Utd rumour mill is that of Mbappe, with uncertainty over his future at PSG.

The Daily Mirror claim that the France star, who has been continually linked with Liverpool over recent weeks, has emerged as an option, given that the club can match his eye-watering wage demands.

As per Forbes, Mbappe is the highest-paid footballer in 2022, earning an astonishing $110 million on the pitch after signing a mega-money deal to stay at PSG in May.

Only a select number of clubs can afford that salary, but it appears United are very much one of them.

It is also claimed, as per the Daily Express, that United have retained their long-standing interest in Harry Kane, with the Spurs striker also a potential replacement for Ronaldo.

For now, both players will feature at the World Cup in Qatar over the next month, with France looking to defend their crown.

Should they do so, they will become only the third team in football history, after Italy (1934 and 1938) and Brazil (1958 and 1962), to successfully win the tournament on two consecutive occasions. Mbappe will hope to help fire them to glory.
