"Sources at United..." - Man Utd's transfer plans revealed with four players at risk of being sold

This would be a major statement.

Manchester United's summer transfer plans have been revealed, and four players could be shown the back door, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag has done an excellent job in his first season as manager, delivering the clubs' first piece of silverware in over five years, defeating Newcastle 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils remain in both the FA Cup and the Europa League, leading fans to fantasise over a potential quadruple.

They travel to Anfield next for a mouth-watering clash against historic rivals Liverpool, as Ten Hag looks to keep pace with second-placed Manchester City.

However, off the pitch, the 13-time Premier League winners face an equally difficult task, as rumours swirl over a potential takeover.

Man Utd transfer plans revealed

United's summer transfer plans have been outlined, with the club in dire need of reducing their wage bill in order to fund any new transfers.

To do so, they will be required to offload a number of players, according to ESPN.

The report states that club captain Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial could all leave Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper David de Gea, whose contract expires in the summer, has reportedly been told he must take a substantial pay cut if he wants to stay.

Man Utd to 'comply with FFP'

Furthermore, sources at United and UEFA have allegedly informed ESPN of the club's expectations to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Club director John Murtough went on the record in January to insist that United were focusing on being "financially disciplined and compliant with FFP rules."

Current owners, the Glazer family, have reportedly received several offers to buy the club. However, the bids received are said to be below their £6billion asking price.

Should a new owner succeed the famous family, they will bear the brunt of the many factors which have limited their transfer budget over their years of financial decline.
