Manchester United are to compete with rivals Manchester City for the signature of Dani Olmo.

The Red Devils appear to have found their feet under new boss Erik ten Hag.

They are on an eight-game unbeaten run that has seen them rise to fifth in the Premier League table while the club have also secured their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

However, despite recent form ten Hag is still in the early stages of a hefty rebuilding job and will hope to bring in some new faces to refresh the squad.

According to Fichajes, Man Utd are interested in RB Leipzig midfielder Olmo, who enters the final year of his contract next year, but will have to compete with Man City for his signature.

Ten Hag reportedly wants to add further depth to the midfield, with out-of-favour Dutch star Donny van de Beek likely to leave either in January or next summer.

Meanwhile, City are on the lookout for a potential replacement for Bernardo Silva, who has been strongly linked to the likes of Barcelona in recent windows.

Indeed, Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on the Spanish international in the past.

Speaking in 2019 when Olmo plied his trade at Dinamo Zagreb, Guardiola said: "He's a top player—he has a bright future, of course.

"His performance today shows it. About the transfer and the money he deserves, that is not the point.

“The point is he is an incredible player and I am pretty sure he is able to play in the strong leagues in Europe. Hopefully, if Dinamo wants and he wants, it can happen."

Olmo’s form has made ripples across European football since the 24-year-old moved to Germany in 2020.

The versatile Leipzig man, who can play on either flank or behind the striker, has recorded 18 goals and 21 assists in his 102 appearances for the German giants.
