Manchester United wonderkid Amad Diallo has sent a message over his future at the club once his loan spell at Sunderland is completed.

His temporary stay at the Championship side was concluded yesterday after the Black Cats qualified for the play-offs on the final day of the regular season on Monday.

They started the day in seventh place and outside of the play-off spots, and knew they needed to beat Preston North End at Deepdale and hope one of Coventry or Millwall lost. A Millwall draw would also have been enough for Tony Mowbray's side.

And the Black Cats did their part, Amad putting them ahead with a superb 20-yard curling effort beyond North End goalkeeper Freddie Woodman in the early exchanges of the second half.

By 65 minutes, it was game over as Sunderland went 3-0 up. Goals from Alex Pritchard and Jack Clarke sealed the victory.

And due to Millwall's shock 4-3 loss at home to Blackburn, having been 3-1 ahead, the Black Cats finished in sixth place.

One of their key players this season has been Amad, who scored his 13th goal of the campaign at Deepdale. With the absence of star striker Ross Stewart for much of the campaign due to injuries, Amad's output has been vital.

Speaking last week (quotes via Metro), Mowbray expected that United would assess the Ivorian winger's development during their pre-season tour this summer before making a decision on his next steps.

And The Sun claim that Ten Hag is considering loaning Amad out to a 'less physical' league, such as the Dutch Eredivisie.

But the winger had his say on his potential future steps during his post-match media duties at Deepdale.

Amad Diallo on Man Utd future

Speaking to the media after the game, Amad said (quotes via Football Transfers): "We'll see, and maybe I'll come back."

And in an interview with Sky Sports reporter David Craig, he stated: "I hope maybe, if we get to the Premier League next season, maybe I'll come back. I don't know."

Sunderland take on Luton in the play-off semi-final, after Rob Edwards' side finished third in the regular Championship season.

The victor of that two-legged fixture will then face either Middlesbrough or Coventry at Wembley for a place in next season's Premier League. Key figures at United will surely be giving close attention to Amad's displays.
