Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo has named his preferred next destination ahead if he departs Old Trafford on loan again, it has been reported.

The Ivorian spent the 2022/23 season at Championship side Sunderland, scoring 13 goals to help the Black Cats reach the play-offs.

Amad even scored in the play-off semi-final first leg, which Sunderland won 2-1 against Luton, but Tony Mowbray's side suffered defeat in the second leg at Kenilworth Road and missed out on a trip to Wembley.

Last month, the forward responded to a report on Instagram, which claimed he was keen on a return to the Stadium of Light, with a handshake emoji.

But competition for his signature will be fierce, with Football Transfers claiming that Premier League sides Burnley, Everton and West Ham, as well as Eredivisie champions Feyenoord, are interested in signing him on a temporary basis.

Now, his preferred destination has been revealed.

Amad names preferred destination if he leaves Man Utd

According to Fabrizio Romano, Amad has a preference to rejoin Sunderland for another season in English football's second tier if he does leave United on loan again.

Romano wrote on Twitter: "Amad Diallo's future is still open. Man United will make final decision on Amad in the next weeks, he hopes for first team chance but it's up to [manager Erik] ten Hag."

The Manchester Evening News claim that the forward, along with left-back Alvaro Fernandez and midfielder Hannibal Mejbri - who had successful loan spells at Preston North End and Birmingham respectively - will all be given opportunities under Erik ten Hag in pre-season.

But the Dutch boss could choose to loan Amad out again - and he could return to familiar surroundings next term.

He would certainly be welcomed back by Black Cats boss Mowbray, who said in May: "The loans manager from Manchester United was here yesterday, and I had a long, long, long chat with him.

"I was saying, 'It's a shame we didn't do a two-year loan, and we're halfway through it'.

"But let's wait and see. It's a two-way conversation really."

Should Sunderland bring Amad back, they will hope to go one better than last season's play-off appearance in what is set up to be one of the most competitive Championship seasons in memory.
