Former Manchester United boss David Moyes has hit out at has hit out at the club for the way he was sacked in 2014.

The current West Ham manager was shown the door just 10 months after joining the Red Devils from Everton.

Moyes won 27 of 51 matches in charge at Old Trafford, following a near impossible task as the successor of Sir Alex Ferguson, who spent 26 years at the helm.

The club sat seventh in the Premier League table at the point of his sacking, with the club going on to miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time since 1995.

Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have all suffered a similar fate since, with Erik ten Hag the next to try his luck with the 13-time Premier League winners.

Moyes: "If you've got any class"

In an interview with entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, the Scotsman revealed that he was informed of his sacking via the media, labelling former United chief Ed Woodward as lacking in "class."

"I always think you have to give bad news well. You're the boss, you run a really big business like Manchester United. If you've got any class or any style, when you're having to give bad news out, it has to be done in a good way," said Moyes.

"I found out about my sacking through the media. I tried to make contact and say 'why don't we meet up' but it didn't suit and before I knew it they called me in the day after and the whole world knew about it before I got to know.

"Sometimes people want to get it done right and I didn't think it was right. But I genuinely don't have any real gripe about it because of the industry I'm in."

Moyes' West Ham side currently sit in the relegation zone following recent defeats to both Brentford and Wolves. With an uphill battle ahead, the 52-year-old must draw on all of his experience to guide the Hammers to safety.
