Man Utd star Alex Telles could be sold to Porto after ugly training ground bust-up

Telles could be on his way out.

Manchester United defender Alex Telles could be sold back to Porto this summer, according to reports, having failed to make an appearance under Erik ten Hag.

The Brazilian was loaned out to Sevilla at the beginning of the campaign, and went on to win the Europa League final with the Spanish side amid their indifferent league form.

Indeed, as recently as April, Sevilla were just two points above the relegation zone, but an improved run of form under new manager Jose Luis Mendilibar meant they rose to 12th by season's end.

And their Europa League win means they will be playing Champions League football next season - although according to the Daily Mirror, they have no plans to sign Telles permanently.

The Brazilian will, for a short spell at least, return to Old Trafford this summer, although is not expected to have any future at the club given that Ten Hag seeing him as surplus to requirements.

In May of last year, the 30-year-old was involved in a heated training ground bust-up with youngster Hannibal Mejbri.

The Daily Mail claimed that United interim boss Ralf Rangnick was forced to intervene, and the German had to bring the training session to a stop.

Now, over a year on, Telles could depart permanently, it has been reported.

Porto 'want to sign Telles'

According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness), Porto are keen on re-signing a player that they sold to United for a fee of around in the summer of 2021.

It is claimed that United would loan Telles to the Portuguese giants for the upcoming season, with Porto boss Sergio Conceicao said to be interested in bringing him back to the club.

The report adds that United would pay a large part of his salary, and potentially use the deal as a makeweight in their attempts to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

As Telles' contract expires next summer, the move would bring an end to his United career and allow Porto to sign him on a free transfer - although they may be able to negotiate a sale by United.

The Brazilian was renowned in Liga Portugal for his attacking output, and was Porto's main penalty and free kick taker. He scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in the 2020/21 season before his move to United.

But the 30-year-old was not able to reproduce those numbers at United, and often found himself behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order before his move to Sevilla.

Meanwhile, Record claim that Telles wants to return to Porto, as he feels he isn't in Erik ten Hag's plans at United.
