Manchester United fans are getting excited over the prospect of Marcel Sabitzer playing for the Old Trafford club.

On transfer deadline day, it was announced that United midfielder Christian Eriksen will be out till April or May due to an ankle ligament injury.

A statement from United said: “Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is expected to be out of action for an extended period because of an ankle injury sustained in our Emirates FA Cup victory over Reading on Saturday.

“While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May.”

After this injury setback, United are now working around the clock to get a midfielder in before the deadline.

It has been widely reported that United are looking to bring in Bayern Munich player Sabitzer as a replacement for Eriksen.

A video of Sabitzer’s highlights has since been doing the rounds on social media and it looks like United have the perfect player to go straight into their midfield.

The 28-year-old has the technical ability to provide United with the creativity that Eriksen can provide.

In addition, he can become the box-to-box midfielder that United have been crying out for.

It looks like that Sabitzer is not shy of taking a shot from a distance as some of his best goals were scored outside of the penalty area.

United fans are excited about their potential new midfield man.

One said: “I promise you there isn’t a better box-to-box midfielder in the Premier League than Marcel Sabitzer.”

Another tweeted: “Marcel Sabitzer - the David Beckham regen.”

A third fan added: “Yeah if he can regain his Leipzig form then that’s a tidy loan probably more suited to playing in a pivot than Eriksen.”

United are now in a race against the clock as they look to finalise a deal before the 11pm deadline.

Will Sabitzer be a good signing for United? Let us know in the comments.
