"He’s not performing" - Erik ten Hag told he must drop £350k-a-week player

One Man United star has come in for criticism.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Man United should drop Jadon Sancho following their 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The Red Devils escaped from Stamford Bridge with a point on Saturday evening, thanks to Casemiro's superb 95th-minute header.

But the Brazilian's late intervention was required after United gave away a penalty on 84 minutes. Scott McTominay pulled down Armando Broja in the area, which led to the spot kick.

Jorginho made no mistake from 12 yards, before the away side hit back late on to secure a crucial point.

Both sides had dropped out of the Premier League top four places by the end of Sunday.

Newcastle's 2-1 win over Tottenham leapfrogged them into fourth, with Chelsea and United in fifth and sixth respectively.

One player who failed to make a major impact at Stamford Bridge was Sancho. The 22-year-old was substituted on 51 minutes, and replaced by Fred.

Sancho has had three goal involvements in 10 appearances in the league this season, with six across the whole of last season.

And speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor believes his place in the team should be called into question - and suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo replaces him.

He claimed: "When I watch Man United, I look at Antony, I look at Rashford, I look at Fernandes, and they look like they want to take a player on, and want to do something and take responsibility in the attacking third.

"Sancho, he gets the ball, and passes it backwards. If I was Luke Shaw, I'd say, 'Stop passing it back to me. I'm giving you the ball, so take someone on'.

"At Dortmund, he was doing it every week. His confidence is that low, does he feel he doesn't have the speed or the trickery to get past someone?

"He's being brought off after 52 minutes for Fred. Fred was unlucky not to start, because he did very well last game, but it just shows that they've had to play Fernandes up front for the last 35 minutes, Rashford went to the left, and Antony stayed on the right because Sancho can't perform.

"How many times do you have to play him? If you're Ronaldo, you're probably thinking, 'How many chances is this guy going to get?'

"Elanga, how many times is Sancho going to get the chance to play for Manchester United, because he's not performing, and he's a million miles away from a chance to play at the World Cup."

Man United are next in action on Thursday, when they host Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.
