Everything you need to know about Sheriff Tiraspol vs Man United

European giants Manchester United head to Moldova to face Sheriff Tiraspol in Group E of the Europa League, with both sides looking for a result to take them a step closer to the competition’s knockout rounds.

Erik Ten Hag’s men have been able to turn around their fortunes in the Premier League in the last few weeks, and four consecutive wins against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal leave United in 5th place, despite being in the relegation zone after their first two games.

Although they are on a good run of form, the Red Devils have been unable to transfer their impressive performances into Europe.

A second half penalty from Brais Mendez was the only goal in Real Sociedad’s 1-0 win at Old Trafford - a result that leaves the Manchester club third in their group.

It was a much brighter start for the hosts however, as they beat the Cypriot side, Omonia, 3-0.

Sheriff are also top of the Moldovan National Division with 17 points and an unbeaten record after the first seven games.

Whilst the 13 time Premier League winners are heavy favourites heading into the clash, Sheriff Tiraspol will undoubtedly provide a stern test.

Sheriff Tiraspol vs Manchester United Team News:

Sheriff have completed their last two fixtures without any new injury concerns and their only absentee is goalkeeper Dumitru Celeadnic, who tested positive for COVID-19.

Manchester United’s injury list is a little longer and includes Anthony Martial, who is still suffering from an Achilles problem, Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellistri.

Sky Sports News also revealed yesterday that Marcus Rashford, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are not in the travelling squad to Moldova.

After a week’s rest due to the postponement of last weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Manchester United’s squad should be in good nick, and Ten Hag is likely to pick a strong starting 11 to try to pick up a crucial three points.
