New Manchester City Star Erling Haaland Hilariously Changed His Childhood Heroes

Haaland claimed that he idolised Sergio Aguero when he was growing up but he previously had a very different answer to the question.

Erling Haaland has well and truly stuck his colours to the mast, by completely changing his mind on who he idolised as a child now he's a Manchester City player.

Fans in the Premier League can really start to get excited to see Haaland in the flesh, following his £51 million move from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

On Sunday afternoon, the Norwegian striker was welcomed to the club with an official unveiling for fans outside the Etihad Stadium, in a move that feels more likely to be seen on the continent.

The 21-year-old took an early opportunity to take a dig at Manchester United, which got him as over as Mick Foley saying the name of the city WWE were performing in on any given night in the early 00s.

Haaland was also asked which players he idolised as a child, telling the crowd that City legend Sergio Aguero was his hero, claiming he had jerseys of the Argentina forward.

However, someone has spliced together the footage from Sunday with an interview he did at Dortmund, where he admitted Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were his idols.

Of course it would have been impossible for the former Red Bull Salzburg striker to stand in front of his newly adoring fans and admit one former United striker and one current United striker were his idols, but it doesn't stop it being funny.

So it's no wonder that the new City striker is so looking forward to facing their local rivals, if it means coming up against Ronaldo, as long as he's still there.

Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford is far from certain though, with the 37-year-old having told the club he wants to leave in order to play in next season's Champions League.

At his press conference on their summer tour to Thailand, new manager Erik ten Hag did sound confident of keeping the striker at Old Trafford, although Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has also refused to rule out a move for the striker.

Haaland, who was recently spotted having a kick about on a beach with some young fans, wasn't the only new signing being unveiled by the Premier League champions.

Former River Plate forward Julian Alvarez was also being shown off to City fans for the first time, although he didn't get quite the reception his fellow new signing had.

Fans were even being mocked by rivals after the atmosphere to welcome the Argentina forward could not exactly be described as thrilling.
