Manchester City Fans Panic After Washington Post’s Haaland Tweet

Manchester City Fans Panic After Washington Post’s Haaland Tweet

The American newspaper caused havoc amongst City fans.

Manchester City fans were moved into a state of panic after the Washington Post tweeted that Haaland had broken a fibula.

Blues fans started to panic when they saw the tweet that read: “It is unclear the severity of Haaland’s injury, where on the fibula the break occurred, or how long it may take for it to heal.”

However, all fears were eased when they realised the Haaland in question was in fact the US interior secretary Debra Haaland and not City’s new number nine, Erling Haaland

Many fans responded to the American newspapers’ tweet.

One wrote: “I thought you were talking about Erling Haaland for a second.”

Another suggested that the Washington Post should use full names in the future by saying: “On the bright side, it's not Erling Haaland. Must use full names in these headlines. Pep was probably freaking.”

Whilst one rival fan joked: “EXCLUSIVE: Haaland has broken their fibula, meaning that they will not be playing for Manchester City for the first half of the Season, via [the] Washington Post,.”

City fans can rest assured that their Norway super star is fully fit and is currently training with the team after arriving in the United States two days ago in preparation for the club’s pre season tour.

Haaland followed in his father’s footsteps this summer by signing for City. The Norwegian international moved from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £51 million. During his time in the Germany, Haaland managed to score 86 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions.

The 21-year-old Leeds born striker is thought to be City’s missing puzzle piece as the club search for the elusive Champions League glory.

The European cup remains the only trophy that Pep Guardiola has failed to win during his time in charge of the Etihad club. In the 21/22 edition, they were knocked out in dramatic fashion by eventual winners Real Madrid in the semi finals.

City fans will have their first look at Haaland when they take on Club America on 21 July in Houston. They will then face Bayern Munich three days later in Wisconsin.

After the conclusion of their pre season tour, City will look to win the FA Community Shield when they take on Liverpool at Wembley on 30 July.
