Luke Shaw wasn't impressed with Aston Villa player's intimidation tactics

Shaw wasn't having it during Manchester United's win, and gave Jhon Duran a much stronger dose of his own medicine.

Luke Shaw showed he wasn't to be messed with, as he proved what he felt of Aston Villa star Jhon Duran's attempts at intimidating the defender.

United had a tough task ahead of them on Sunday, as they faced Unai Emery's in form Villa, at Old Trafford, in need of a win after throwing away a two goal lead against Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Erik ten Hag's side knew a win would take them closer to next season's Champions League, with just a handful of games left in the Premier League campaign.

Bruno Fernandes' first half goal, followed by his intense celebration in front of the away supporters, was enough to secure the three points.

Before the game finished though, United were tested by their opponents, but Shaw's reaction to Duran showed they were always going to be tough to break down.

As you can see in the video below, the 19-year-old Colombian attempted to intimidate the former Southampton star, just to get himself dismissed in the most brutal way.

It's been a weird season in some ways for the 27-year-old defender, after he started United's opening two games of the season, which saw them drop to bottom of the table.

He then lost his place in the first team to Tyrell Malacia but has been able to get it back to be an important member of Erik ten Hag's side.

However, left back has not been his only position for once, as the England international has also ended up starting seven games at centre back, in a back four.

The win over Villa was the latest such game, and he has been preferred over club captain Harry Maguire at times, although the centre-back's latest absence from the first XI was partially due to injury.

Maguire did come on in the second half, and United fans were delighted to see that Fernandes kept the captain's armband, rather than hand it over.

Shaw's own leadership skills have also been appreciated recently, with the defender praised for his classy pep talk to Jadon Sancho, before the forward's penalty in the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton eight days ago.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward's previous spot kick at Wembley had been the miss in the Euro 2020 final shoot-out, which he received disgusting racist abuse for,

United's win over Villa left them seven points clear of fifth placed Liverpool, with a game in hand and matches running out for the chasing pack.
