Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed which Premier League club he believes has had the most successful transfer window.

It has been an extremely busy summer for clubs in England’s top division so far, with 11 of them having already spent over £50m, and 5 of them already spending over £90 million!

Unsurprisingly it has been the teams in the traditional ‘top 6’ that have been leading the spending spree as they look to challenge for the title and the Champions League places, but clubs such as Leeds, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Southampton haven’t hesitated to splash the cash either.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano stated Liverpool have had a strong summer.

“Firstly, I believe Liverpool have had the perfect window, signing Darwin Nunez and renewing the contract of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian will be like a new signing,”

The Merseyside club also brought in youngsters Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay to add significant depth to their squad, and despite losing the Senegalese ace Sadio Mane, they look set to be extremely competitive in all competitions again this year.

However, Romano goes on to say he believes Liverpool’s closest rivals in the league have also strengthened:

“As well as Manchester City, signing Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips, them two have been the best.”

If last Saturday’s Community Shield clash is anything to go off, the upcoming season looks as if it will be another nail biting race to the title.

It has not just been the top two that have added firepower to their squad however, and Romano was quick to praise the two North London sides for their dealings too.

“I believe Arsenal deserve a very high mark as Edu Gaspar was excellent in negotiations with Gabriel Jesus and others, who will help the team."

"Tottenham had perfect timing with six signings, this will help Antonio Conte”
