"No-brainer" - Liverpool urged to bring in two major Arsenal targets

Glen Johnson has urged Liverpool to look at signing two Arsenal transfer targets to help bolster their midfield.

Liverpool’s recent injuries have exposed their lack of depth in the position and many believe the lack of action in last summer’s transfer window could cost them dearly.

A plethora of midfielder’s including the likes of Jude Bellingham are reportedly on the Red's radar for next year but former England international Glen Johnson believes that signing Premier League experienced midfielders could be the key for Jurgen Klopp.

Johnson has mentioned Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans as a man who could slot into the Reds engine room while he’s available on a cheap fee, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2023.

Speaking to BettingOdds, Johnson had this to say about Liverpool and Tielemans: “I’d definitely be looking to sign him.”

‘If it’s safer to secure it now and pay a small fee then I’d do that. I wouldn’t run the risk of allowing anyone else to have him for free.”

“I think he’s the sort of player that could fit into any team relatively straightforwardly.”

The former Liverpool defender also mentioned Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz as another target the Reds should be monitoring.

The Brazilian was subject of a deadline day move to Arsenal but the Gunners had two bids rejected by the Birmingham side.

“He’s another good player,” Johnson went on to say.

“Liverpool probably do need two or three players in the midfield and if you can snap these sorts of players up, that have Premier League experience, for relatively cheap or even better on a free, then it’s a no-brainer.”

The Reds have started slow this season, only winning 2 of their opening 6 league games, and Johnson believes Jurgen Klopp’s men won’t be able to challenge for the title this season.

“I’ll be very surprised if anyone can challenge Man City,”

“Tottenham are a hell of a lot better than they were last season but I don’t think they have the squad to take on Manchester City, but stranger things have happened.”

“I just think that Manchester City have the ability to win games when they’re playing at a six out of ten and not many other teams can do that.”
