19-year-old Villarreal forward Yeremy Pino is attracting the attention of many top sides in Europe this summer, and Liverpool are believed to be among the clubs leading the race to sign the youngster.

That’s according to Spanish reporter Xavi Jorquera Marquez who claims the Reds have put a €40 million offer on the table for Pino.

Rivalling Klopp's side for the youngster’s signature are Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. The Gunners are intent on signing a winger this summer after missing out on Raphinha to Barcelona earlier in the window.

It is understood that Villareal would not be prepared to accept a bid as low as €40 million, with the La Liga outfit only willing to listen to bids in the region of €60 million.

Whether Liverpool or Arsenal would be willing to spend such a large sum on a relatively unproven talent is unclear.

Villareal manager Unai Emery is a big fan of Pino. The youngster impressively appeared in 31 La Liga games for the Yellow Submarine last term.

But along the way, he only offered 10 goal contributions - 6 goals and 4 assists.

In fairness to the Spaniard, that was strong return for someone of his age. The talent is clearly there. But does he offer €60 million worth of talent?

If either Liverpool or Arsenal were to offer the requisite money to Villarreal for Pino this summer, they’d argue he’s a signing for the future.

As a player who prefers to operate on the right-wing, the youngster likely wouldn’t automatically start for either side.

At Liverpool, Mo Salah would be standing in his way, and at Arsenal Pino would have emphatically hit the ground running to displace Bukayo Saka.

So, the 19-year-old is likely looking at which club can offer him the better pathway towards regular first-team football in the future.

And that club is probably Liverpool. Mo Salah is 30 now, his performance level will begin to decline sooner rather than later, at which point he can takeover.
