Liverpool were criticised for their inactivity during the summer transfer window, but they are looking to rectify their errors sooner rather than later.
And in an attempt to do so they have reportedly set their sights on a Premier League player who is set to become a free agent next summer.
That man is Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, who was heavily linked with a move away from the Foxes this summer.

Arsenal were believed to be favourites to sign the Belgian over the transfer period but failed to lodge an official bid.
And as such, as per Calcio Mercato, Liverpool will look to capitalise on Arsenal’s reluctance to sign the player in the window just gone by through signing him next summer.
And for Liverpool, signing a player of Tielemans calibre and profile would make a lot of sense.
It has become apparent that Liverpool are heavily interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham next summer.

However, if they are to sign the Brit they will have to commit to a huge financial package worth more than £100 million.
But Liverpool’s early season struggles have indicated they may need to sign more than one midfielder next summer. Evolution is required in that area of the pitch.
As such, Tielemans becomes a notably viable option for Liverpool as a free agent.

If Liverpool were to sign Tielemans, it would ensure the Reds still had money to spend on Bellingham and of course they’d be able to bring in two top class midfielders in one window.
And beneficially for Jurgen Klopp, Tielemans and Bellingham have two contrasting profiles. They’d be able to operate in the same team.
Tielemans, who was once dubbed "the new Frank Lampard", is the type of player who can play in a role more akin to Thiago’s in the current set-up, whereas Bellingham would be signed as more of a box-to-box player.
Liverpool won’t be alone in their pursuit of Tielemans next summer. Real Madrid and Arsenal are both believed to hold an interest in the player.

But if they were to capture his signature, it’d be some coup from many perspectives.
