Liverpool are considering a move to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie on a loan deal in January, according to reports.

The Reds midfield has been an area of concern this season, with injuries suffered by key players and a subsequent lack of depth seen as a major problem for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Naby Keita has not played all season through injury, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Arthur Melo have all missed significant periods of time as well.

But three of those four players, excluding Arthur, have been involved in the Reds' Dubai training camp, with Keita's return to action coming as a relief to Reds fans.

But the Guinean is out of contract at the end of the season, alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner. Arthur, meanwhile, is currently on loan at the club.

Klopp's side, therefore, are looking for reinforcements, and have been heavily linked with Benfica star Enzo Fernandez and Borussia Dortmund key man Jude Bellingham.

But new reports suggest they may also be looking at temporary options in January to get them through to the end of the season.

Liverpool linked with McKennie

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are open to exploring loan deals in January, with Juventus midfielder McKennie said to be a possible option.

Liverpool were linked with signing the United States international in 2019, with Klopp said to be considering a bid for the then-Schalke star. But he went on to join Juventus instead.

Now, the Reds could go back in for a player that impressed against England at the World Cup. McKennie played the full 90 minutes during the 0-0 draw, and was one of the USA's top players on the evening.

But according to Italian outlet Tuttosport (via Il Bianconero), Juve would be open to selling the 24-year-old for a fee of €20 million in order to finance the signing of a new full-back in January.

That deal could appeal to Liverpool instead of a loan, with McKennie then joining up with Arthur, who he had played alongside at Juventus for the past two seasons prior to the Brazilian's loan move to Anfield.
