Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has said that Arsenal would ‘lose half of the fanbase’ if Liverpool and Manchester City target, Bukayo Saka, leaves the club.

There have been reports surfacing recently that the Premier League’s top two clubs are very interested in Saka and are huge admirers of the Englishman, but Nicol stated to ESPN that Arsenal ‘won’t let him go’, or else there will be a ‘revolt’.

“They won’t let him go,” said Nicol. “If they want to lose half the fanbase, then they will turn around and sell Bukayo Saka tomorrow, it’s as simple as that.

“If they were to do that, then my goodness, there would be a revolt amongst the fans, so that’s not happening. Regardless of what would be offered for him. It’s not happening.”

The Arsenal starboy, produced by the Hale End academy, has gone from strength to strength since debuting in Premier League. on 2019 New Years Day.

He was eve the first player born in the 21st century to play in England's first division.

Since Mikel Arteta took over from Unai Emery at Arsenal, Saka has taken his game to another level and is now the both talisman in the North London side and the first name in the team sheet.

This season he managed to bag 11 goals and 7 assists in the Premier League alone.

If the Gunners want to achieve their goal of getting back into the top 4, which they narrowly missed out on this season, they will have to do everything they can to keep him away from City and Liverpool.

In Arsenal's favour is the fact that both clubs have already spent significantly in their attack this transfer window.

Liverpool have seen the arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a fee that could rise to £100 million, and Man City have bought in strikers Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez for a combined fee of around £65 million.
