Liverpool's pressing was like nothing ever seen before but Jurgen Klopp's side have lost a feature of their game.

A compilation showing Liverpool being "pressing monsters" has gone viral and it looks like a completely different team to what we see currently.

The Reds suffered another embarrassing defeat at the weekend, losing 3-0 away to a Wolves side who were in the relegation zone before the huge result.

Jurgen Klopp's side have failed to win a single game in the Premier League in 2023, with their last victory coming against Leicester City on 30 December courtesy of two own goals from Wout Faes.

They sit 10th in the table, 21 points off league leaders Arsenal. A slew of injuries to key players have hampered Liverpool but it's also clear to see that they are no longer the same side who swept aside teams aplenty with their heavy metal football.

In their pomp, where they won the Champions League and Premier League - accruing 196 points over two seasons, a feature of Liverpool's game was their pressing.

As the below montage shows, they were absolute machines without the ball. Whether they were under the lights at Anfield or away from home, the six-time European Cup winners simply didn't allow their opponents a moment's rest when in possession.

They pressed as a unit from front to back and the intensity was like nothing ever seen before. So often they turned over possession and got the ball into their deadly attackers, who did the business.

Teams could not play out from the back against them or else they would be smothered and it happened time and time again in the Premier League and Champions League.

Against Wolves on Saturday, however, the Black Country outfit passed it around them with absolute ease.

Gini Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane, who have both left Liverpool, were two of their best pressers alongside Roberto Firmino and these days the same identity isn't there.

One fan wrote: "Wijnaldum was so vital in this, I miss him so much."

A second joked: "Now we are just depressing."

A third added: "We should have Kept refreshing the team.. now everyone is too tired.

A fourth said: "Wow Firmino and Wijnaldum are superb pressers. But it all worked cohesively."

A fifth commented: "We need fresh legs for this, this set of players are exhausted with this style of play."

Liverpool have the small matter of the Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday, though there is positive news for the fixture as Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk and Firmino are said to be training.
