Luis Diaz hit the ground running after joining Liverpool in January, and this season he could get even better.

Liverpool have released an exciting clip of Diaz scoring a number of impressive goals in pre-season training on Twitter.

The first, a typical Diaz goal – curling the ball into the far corner. The second, a poacher’s tap in at the far post. And the third, a header.

And it is the header which has got Reds fans talking. It was the sort of header which Liverpool supporters became accustomed to seeing from Sadio Mané over the years.

Climbing highest at the back post and heading the ball hard into the ground become something of a forte for the Senegalese international,

And in Diaz, it would appear Liverpool have a player who also has a habit of finding himself in such situations.

He isn’t afraid of an aerial duel, something which was evident during his first season on Merseyside, and that is something which will only help the Reds score more goals this term.

The back post cross is Trent Alexander-Arnold’s specialty, as he has the ability to strike a ball with exactly the right amount of whip and trajectory.

And Diaz could begin to feed off such deliveries at Anfield next season if he continues to be deployed as the left-sided forward in Liverpool’s front three.

He will find himself in the areas Alexander-Arnold tries to attack through his deliveries, and thus many a goal scoring opportunity will present itself.

And Diaz will have to profit from such opportunities if he is to keep his place in Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Despite currently being side-lined through injury, Diogo Jota is constantly knocking on the door at Liverpool trying to claim a starting birth.

And Jota is an inevitable goal scorer. If Diaz’s attacking numbers aren’t up to scratch, Klopp won’t hesitate before replacing him.

But Diaz very much excited Liverpool fans last term, and the club’s supporters will be hoping for the same, if not more, during the Colombian’s first full season on Merseyside.
