'I Think They'll Win It' - Roy Keane and Graeme Souness Debate Liverpool And Man City's Title Chances

Sky Sports pundits Graeme Souness and Roy Keane have disagreed over their predictions for the 2021/22 Premier League title race.

Liverpool missed out on the accolade of League champions last time out as Manchester City pipped them by a single point.

This meant back-to-back titles for Pep Guardiola’s side and was the second time in the last four seasons where they have marginally finished above the Reds at the top of the table.

Former Liverpool midfielder Souness has tipped his old side to win their 20th league title next campaign and their second in the Premier League era.

Meanwhile, ex-Manchester United man Keane believes City will make it three in a row and add a 9th league title to their honours list.

Liverpool came within two wins of becoming the first English club to ever win the Quadruple last season, but final day heartbreak and a loss in Paris in the Champions League final to Real Madrid meant they had to settle for a domestic cup double.

Keane and Souness engaged in a heated discussion on Sky Bet with regards to who will be victorious in next season’s race for winner’s medals.

They also debated whether Chelsea would get involved.

“No, I don’t think so. Both Liverpool and Man City will be the outstanding favourites but you’ve got to factor Chelsea into that argument,” said Souness.

Keane responded: “I don’t think they (Chelsea) will close the gap."

"I think they’ll be a bit better, they have quality, the recruitment but you can’t look beyond Liverpool and Man City (for the title)."

“Yeah (Man United are the only team to finish in the top two outside Liverpool and Man City), where do you want to start?"

"The chat was going so well. The manager will no doubt be given money to spend, the recruits, four or five experienced players have left the club but I think that was a good thing."

“But I still don’t see United competing with Liverpool and Man City, not just yet.”

Souness backed Klopp to lift the Premier League: “I think Liverpool will win it. They came so close last year.”

Keane disagreed, believing Guardiola’s influence will be the deciding factor for City once again.
