Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Jurgen Klopp has praised Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp had nothing but compliments to say about the teenage midfielder.

Morton has been with the club since 2009, where he has worked his way through their youth programmes, and made his first-team debut in 2021

He was born in Wirral, Merseyside and at only 19 years of age, Morton looks to have a promising future ahead of him.

When asked about the many midfield options Liverpool has for the upcoming season, Klopp was quick to mention young Tyler’s name amongst some of Liverpool's more experienced superstars.

He stated: “Tyler Morton in training, incredible!”.

The Liverpool manager also opened up about where Morton feels comfortable playing, saying that “he plays as a No.8 now, so we don’t force him to play as a controlling No.6 in a Premier League game”.

Morton played in the latter position when he made his first Liverpool start in their match against Spurs last season

Klopp went on to say that when “he’s training as an 8”, “it’s like “wow, how good is that?!”

With Morton having already made nine appearances for Liverpool’s first team, as well as impressing the nation when he made his international debut for England’s U20, Klopp will definitely be looking towards Morton for future selections, especially if he keeps performing this well in training

With the local lad being born just across from Anfield, and having risen all the way through Liverpool’s youth academy, Morton will definitely prove to be a fan favourite in the future, as he really is, ‘one of their own’.

Klopp has a lot of faith in his team and is determined to prove that this squad is a force to be reckoned with as they hope to lift the Premier League trophy this upcoming season.

He commented that “there’s really a lot of excitement for this situation from our side”.

He believes in his young players and hopes to release their potential with his “very positive” expectations.
