Liverpool fans at Anfield were made to believe that Aston Villa had made it 3-3 against Manchester City, and won Jurgen Klopp's team the Premier League title.

It was incredibly tension and drama filled final day of the season in England's top tier on Sunday, as City engineered an incredible comeback against Villa to defend their title.

The visiting team at the Etihad really threw the race for top spot wide open as they took a 2-0 lead into the 70th minute, after goals from Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho.

Two goals from substitute Ilkay Gundogan and one from Rodri then put City ahead, whilst Liverpool scored twice late in their game with Wolves to take the lead.

With Klopp's side ahead finally, a draw at the Etihad would win them the title, and footage showed that fans were led to believe Steven Gerrard's team had grabbed a third goal, as celebration reverberated around Anfield, only for the real news to be revealed.

You can only imagine the confusion and then disappointment for those at the ground, and even at home watching on television, as they tried to check what the score was.

This is why fans with radios in the stadiums is always a good idea, there's no room for confusion when you're being updated with scores.

Villa didn't even really have any chances to get back into the game once City went ahead, and so the title stayed in Manchester for another year.

At 2-0, Liverpool fans would have been dreaming of the chance to anoint Gerrard as a Premier League winner, having failed to do it as a player at Anfield.

The fact that Coutinho had scored the second goal would have also delighted them, as a second title in three years, having gone 30 years without one, was just a goal away.

It wasn't just drama at the top of the league that dominated the final day, with the relegation battle coming right down to the wire as well.

Leeds United scored a 94th minute winner against Brentford to stay up, leading to Raphina celebrating in the stands with the fans.

They needed that winner to secure their place in the top tier, with Burnley just 2-1 down to Newcastle United, and knowing an equaliser would have been enough to keep them up, before Harrison's late winner.
