Crysencio Summerville scored a dramatic late winner as Leeds United stunned Liverpool at Anfield.

Summerville, 20, scored in the 89th minute to snatch a 2-1 win for Leeds on Merseyside.

It is yet another damaging defeat for Jurgen Klopp's side and a major boost for Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, who was under huge pressure heading into Saturday's game after a run of eight league matches without a win.

Leeds started the match brightly and took the lead after just four minutes when Rodrigo capitalised on a huge error from Joe Gomez.

Liverpool responded well and quickly equalised through Mohamed Salah.

But while they continued to create opportunities going forward, Liverpool looked vulnerable on the counter-attack.

They were made to pay in the final moments of normal time, when Summerville beat Alisson to secure a much-needed win for the visitors, their first away from home in the Premier League this season.

The victory moves Leeds out of the relegation places and up to 14th in the table.

Liverpool, meanwhile, remain ninth - 13 points behind leaders Manchester City, who beat Leicester 1-0 in the early kick-off.

Klopp's side now find themselves eight points off the Champions League places.

The defeat was also Virgil van Dijk's first loss at Anfield in the Premier League since he joined Liverpool in 2018.

It is yet another disappointing result for Liverpool and comes just a week after their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Reds fans were quick to voice their anger on social media after the full-time whistle.

"Forest & Leeds, two worst teams in the league and they've both played 2 different ways and outplayed us in both. You have to laugh. Bunch of pathetic clowns…," posted one supporter on Twitter.

Another fan wrote: "I do not understand what's happening to the team this season."

While a third posted: "Arrogance this summer cost us everything.

"Everyone was warning about the lack of quality, needed investments desperately. But alas…."

Liverpool will have the chance to bounce back when they face Napoli in their final Champions League group match on Tuesday.

The Reds can still finish top of their group if they better the 4-1 win that Napoli claimed in the reverse fixture in September.

Leeds, meanwhile, host relegation rivals Bournemouth at Elland Road on Saturday.
