Real Madrid have tracked down a boy who lost five family members in the Morocco earthquake and signed him for their academy.

Los Blancos supporter Abdul Rahim Awhida, 14, was wearing the club's shirt as he gave an interview outside of what remained of his home, using the the shirt to wipe away tears as he re-lived the tragic experience.

The interview went viral around the world, with fans tagging Real Madrid's social media account so that they may be able to help.

The Spanish club have since reached out to Saudi Arabian TV station Al Arabiya to get in contact with Abdul's uncle, according to The Sun.

After locating Abdul, they have offered to take him under their wing and adopt him into their football family. Real reportedly plan to integrate him into their academy while he continues to study in Spain, fulfilling his father's wishes.

Abdul's father, mother, two brothers and grandfather were among more than 2,900 people killed in the 6.8 magnitude quake in his home country last Friday.
